korean (turkey) meat patties (theok-garl-bee)

ingredients:
(1) lb. ground turkey
(1/2) cup finely diced sweet potato (approx. 1/2 medium sweet potato)
(1/2) cup finely diced onion (approx. 1/2 medium onion)
(1/2) cup finely diced mushrooms (of any kind)
(1) Tbsp. minced garlic
(1) tsp. ginger juice
(1) Tbsp. potato starch
(3) Tbsp. soy sauce
(3) Tbsp. sugar or honey
(1) Tbsp. sesame oil
(8) 3.5" long rice cake sticks
cooking oil

garnishes:
sesame seeds
pine nuts

directions:
1. heat a pan on medium heat, drizzle some cooking oil, add (8) 3.5" rice cake sticks and pan-fry until the skin crisps up to light brown. set a side and cool completely.
2. in a bowl, add (1) lb. ground turkey, (1/2) cup finely diced sweet potato, (1/2) cup finely diced onion, (1/2) cup finely diced mushrooms, (1) Tbsp. minced garlic, (1) tsp. ginger juice, (1) Tbsp. potato starch, (3) Tbsp. soy sauce, (3) Tbsp. sugar and (1) Tbsp. sesame oil and combine well. 
3. divide the mixture into (8) equal parts and mold into round patty around each 3.5" rice cake stick.
4. preheat oven to broil.
5. heat a pan on medium high heat, drizzle some cooking oil and sear meat patties all the way around.
6. transfer the meat patties to a baking sheet and finish cooking in the oven for 20-25 min.  
7. sprinkle some sesame seeds, garnish with pine nuts and serve while hot.
